About Dr. Vipin SIngh
Hello Everyone,
I am Dr. Vipin Kumar Singh, a knee replacement surgeon based in Varanasi. I completed my early education in Varanasi while staying at my maternal grandfather’s residence.
After completing my primary education, I aspired to build a career in the medical field. I prepared for competitive examinations and secured admission to Allahabad Medical College with a good rank. During my MBBS, Orthopaedics was the only specialty I was passionate about pursuing. With dedicated hard work and preparation, I successfully completed my MS in Orthopaedics and began my journey as an orthopaedic and knee replacement surgeon.
After completing my post-graduation, I worked in Orthopaedics in Jhansi and later moved to Delhi to further advance my experience in orthopaedic treatment.
I worked as a Senior Resident at Bhagwan Mahavir Hospital, Delhi, and later returned to Varanasi in 2011 to start my practice in Fracture and Trauma care.
Still, deep within, I felt that this was not the field I truly wanted to pursue, which later led me to choose joint replacement surgery as my specialty.
I applied for fellowships at several institutions and was selected at two places. I then left my practice and moved to Ahmedabad. In 2011, I completed a fellowship at Shalby Hospital Limited, where I gained valuable experience in knee replacement surgery.
After completing my fellowship, I went to Germany for advanced training and also spent some time in Switzerland. When I returned to India, I had to decide whether to continue fracture and trauma practice or dedicate myself fully to knee joint replacement surgery.
While I was considering this decision, I received a call from Shalby Hospital Limited to join as a Consultant, which was also my desired career path.
I joined Shalby Hospital as a Junior Consultant and gradually advanced to the position of Senior Consultant. During my tenure there, I performed more than 12,000 knee replacement surgeries.
For over 10 years, I dedicated myself exclusively to knee replacement surgery and mastered advanced surgical techniques. As I progressed in joint replacement surgery, I realized it was truly my passion and purpose. Later, I began consulting patients through OPDs across Varanasi. During my time at Shalby Hospital, I treated patients from Patna, Ranchi, Jamshedpur, and even Africa. Seeing patients recover well and leave with happiness and blessings has always been the greatest satisfaction of my career.
During this journey, I achieved several milestones and helped establish multiple fellowship programs under my guidance. I was also actively involved in training new joint replacement surgeons and mentoring them in advanced knee replacement procedures.
I also trained many surgeons and was invited several times as a guest lecturer and guest surgeon in India and Africa, including at BHU, the University of Zambia, and medical institutes in Tanzania and Ethiopia.
Over time, I noticed that many patients from Purvanchal were travelling to Ahmedabad for knee replacement surgery. I felt there was a strong need for advanced knee replacement treatment in Purvanchal, which inspired me to return to Varanasi and begin dedicated knee replacement services here.
